Pim Martens holds Master degrees in Biological and Environmental Health Sciences, and a PhD in Mathematics. Currently, he holds the chair ‘Global Dynamics and Sustainable Development’ at Maastricht University (Netherlands) and Leuphana University (Germany). He is a honorary professor at Stellenbosch University (South-Africa).
Pim Martens is the Scientific Director of the International Centre for Integrated Assessment and Sustainable Development (ICIS) , and the Academic Director of the Maastricht University Graduate School of Sustainability Science (MUST).
Pim Martens is project-leader and principal investigator of several projects related to sustainable development and sustainability science, globalisation, environmental change and society
Furthermore, has been a visiting scholar at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), Harvard University (USA), Heidelberg University (Germany), ETH Zurich (Switzerland), and Aberystwyth University (Wales).
